Huangguoshu Waterfall
One of Asia's largest waterfalls, 77.8 metres high and 101 metres wide, viewable from six directions — above, below, left, right, front and back — and you can walk through the Water Curtain Cave. Main highlights include the main waterfall, Doupotang and Tianxingqiao. Visiting tip: water volume is greatest in summer and you will get wet in the Water Curtain Cave, so bring a raincoat; it is on the same day as Tianxingqiao, so wear non-slip shoes. Practical info: the site is at Zhenning Bouyei and Miao Autonomous County, Anshun, Guizhou; ticket ¥160 (includes the main waterfall, Doupotang and Tianxingqiao; shuttle bus extra); opening hours 07:00–18:00. Best season: April–October; the waterfall carries the most water in summer. Bring rain gear in the rainy season, as the scenic-area steps are slippery. It can be combined with Longgong, Tianlong Tunpu and Getu River in Anshun for a half-day or full-day itinerary. Before setting out, check the day's opening and reservation policy and allow plenty of time. In peak season or on holidays, book ahead and travel off-peak, and allow time for queues and security checks. Plan your stay around the opening hours and your energy.
